There are certainly no shortages of NGOs in Brazil. Where Campo is unique however, is in its proficiency at turning good intentions into tangible and lasting results. Few NGOs in Brazil have developed such a diverse and productive network of successful alliances with fledgling projects and impoverished communities.
Aims
Positive community transformation: we aim to promote citizenship, to strengthen community bonds, and to alleviate social depravation and inequality through assisting grassroots, community-based projects. We view the untapped potential of children and adolescents as key to this transformation.
Ethos
We believe in the symbiotic relationship between the helper and the helped. Campo attempts to both teach and learn from the communities and projects it works with. Thus, instead of the famous charitable aphorism “Teach a man to fish and he can fish for a lifetime”, Campo’s goal is to learn to fish alongside those it works with. This two-way relationship, which places importance on the feedback and opinions from the communities it works in, allows Campo to continuously evolve and refine its methods.
